|科目の目的・到達目標||This is a communicative course aimed at improving students' level of confidence in communicating about many general day to day events and current affairs topics in English.|
|授業の概要||A textbook with authentic content from National Geographic Videos and various interesting speaking and listening activities based on current topics will be used. Students will be required to speak in pairs or small groups for all activities, discuss ideas, give opinions and do roleplays, plus give a group presentation on a topic of their choice. Vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar lessons will be presented throughout the course related to the topics in the book.|
|授業計画||There are 14 units in the book and 1 unit will span over 2 lessons. Units 7-12 will be taught in Semester 2.
Units 7 & 8: Tourism

Lesson 1: Unit 8: "Ecotourism": Video - Gorillas Eco-tour. Give reasons why you would like to go on an Eco-Tour.
Lesson 2: Unit 8: Decide in groups, which eco-tour you would choose.
Units 9 & 10: Consuming.
Lesson 3: Unit 9: "Markets". Video- Moroccan Market. Shopping in Different Places. Buying, Selling, Bargaining.
Lesson 4: Unit 9: Role-play in groups at a flea market.
Lesson 5: Unit 10: "Trash". Video - Trash People. Language of Suggestion. Making Suggestions about Trash disposal.
Lesson 6: Unit 10: Recycling. Discuss ways to reduce Trash.
Units 11 & 12: Environment.
Lesson 7: Unit 11: "Disappearing Species". Video - Tuna in Danger. Endangered Animals. Talk about consequences for actions taken.
Lesson 8: Unit 11: Language of 1st conditional. Discuss which animals to keep.
Lesson 9: Prepare for Group presentations.
Lesson 10: Present Presentations. Feedback given on the day.
Units 13 & 14: Society.
Lesson 11: Unit 12: "Green Living". Video - Island Business. Language of 2nd conditional. Describe a product you think is eco-friendly.
Lesson 12: Unit 12: Discuss how to make a company eco- friendly.
Units 13 & 14: Society.
Lesson 13: Unit 13: "Living Abroad". Video- Living Together. Explain why people choose to live overseas. Express a purpose. Debate - Immigration.
Lesson 14: Unit 14: "Health" Video- Longevity Leaders. Talk about possible scenarios in the future. Describe the health of healthy elderly people. Debate - Life expectancy.
Lesson 15: Review.
|評価方法||Grading will be based on class participation, attitude, weekly homework a listening and a speaking test, 1 written test and 1 presentation.|
