|科目の目的・到達目標||Advanced English courses are designed to build upon the linguistic and academic skills students have gained in their first two years in the Faculty. A variety of Advanced English courses will be described in advance of enrolment, and students will choose from among them according to individual interests and needs. Particular topics offered will be determined by the academic interests of instructors and the particular needs of students. Some Advanced English courses may include supervised research projects intended to supplement work done in third- and fourth-year seminars outside of the English Programme.|
|授業の概要||In this course, we will study a wide variety of topics relating to mass media and their effects and roles in society, news agencies, global news flow and international issues that are presently taking place at different parts of the world. To do this, a variety of materials from news magazines, newspapers, textbooks and videos will be used.
The class will be divided into groups and all the students are expected to read the materials in advance, one designated group will be required to write a summary and their opinion to be presented to the entire class. The other students will ask questions and a final comment will be made by the instructor. This will be repeated throughout the semester, so every group should make their presentations.
