Basic guideline for evaluation in each of the two semesters:
A = 90%+ for exceptional and excellent work and progress over a semester. "You have met all the requirements for this course in the semester, AND made good progress, AND did exceptionally well in class and out of class."
B = 80 – 89% and means "Good". For example, "You have good attendance, good preparation, and good participation in English in class. You did the assignments well, and you also made good progress over the semester.."
C = 70 – 79% and means "Satisfactory": One factor for a "B" grade is missing. For example, "You have good attendance and good participation in English in class. You also made clear progress over the semester, BUT you did not complete some of the assignments and sometimes came to class unprepared.
D = 60 – 69% and means "Poor": Two factors for a "B" grade are missing. For example, "You have participated in English in class and you have made some clear progress over the year BUT you have often come to class unprepared and you also have 4 absences."
E = 0 – 59% and means "Fail". Many factors for a "B" grade are missing. For example, "You have sometimes come to class. You have not participated in English in class, have 6 absences, and you have not made much effort.
