授業の概要
Theme: Global development issues faced by countries and communities around the world, including in Japan
This course focuses on Global Development issues that we face in terms of economic, social, and political progress in the world. Students will be able to choose to learn about various common issues that individuals and different groups of people face, for example, poverty, inequality, lack of access to education and healthcare, environmental degradation, and political instability.
What you will do in class each week
In this course, you will use various types of texts from multi-media such as text, images, audio, and video to learn about Global Development issues together. Through the semester you will choose Global Development issues that interest you, find information online, and make notes about a combination of government policies, international aid, and private sector investment, as well as efforts to promote good governance, human rights, and sustainable development. In class each week you will share and discuss your notes with other students in pairs or small groups. You will also keep a weekly learning journal in which you write about your questions, thoughts, experiences, and ideas to do with the Global Development issues that you and other students researched and discussed.
