|科目の目的・到達目標||This is a general English course aimed at improving students' level of confidence in communicating about many general day to day events and current affairs topics in English.
|授業の概要||This is primarily a speaking and listening course based around real life situations and current affairs topics. Vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading and writing exercises are also included in each unit. Each unit starts by discussing a picture which introduces the theme of the unit. This is followed by vocabulary and grammar exercises then a short conversation, all in preparation for the Listening task. After the listening task, there is a specific pronunciation exercise, and then speaking activities follow on from that incorporating everything learnt so far. Next, there is a reading task which will be set for homework the week before, then a communicative writing exercise which involves brainstorming and sharing of ideas. The last activity of the book is a Video and a discussion. There are also 4 TED Talks in the text.|
|授業計画||There are 12 units in the book and 4 TED Talks. Units 7-12 will be studied in the second semester, with each unit taking about 2 lessons. Each unit is divided into 5 sections. Sections A and B will be studied in the first lesson and sections C, D and E in the second lesson.

|評価方法||Grading will be based on class participation, attendance, attitude, improvement in language skill, weekly homework, a written test, speaking test, and a listening test. 80% attendance is required to pass the course.
