科目の目的・到達目標 | The Academic Presentations courses aim to help students successfully prepare and present researched and documented materials in the Policy Sciences and Cultural Studies. Using skills introduced in the Academic Writing courses and reinforced here, students will select and limit topics related to their own academic interests, locate relevant sources in the Chuo or other libraries, and relying on these and other materials prepare individual or group presentations that aim to inform, persuade, or challenge the assumptions of an audience. Students will be encouraged to make use of the audio-visual and computer resources of the Faculty, including presentation software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, and in presenting their research to provide, accurately following a standard documentary form, a full list of sources consulted. |
授業の概要 | In this class students will work in groups of 3-5. They will first learn how to prepare a presentation. Then they will choose a topic, which is of interest to them, and conduct research into that topic area and then prepare presentations. They will be expected to deliver multiple group and individual presentations throughout the semester. Students will also be expected to participate as a critical audience and offer feedback as well as evaluating the other groups’ performances. |
