授業の概要 The class helps you to consolidate your experience in developing English language skills and can provide you with opportunities to explore your interests, using English to communicate your ideas to others through presentations and writing projects. You will conduct self-study projects, collaborative projects and receive guidance on how to improve your skill in English.

テキスト・参考文献等 There is no set text. Students will use resources on the internet and from the university libraries. All students are required to keep a detailed notebook.
授業外の学習活動 Every other class will have a discussion. This is for you to develop your opinion and perhaps to debate or at least to compare opinions with other students in your group. Every other week you will also have internet research, for the necessary background information to help you develop an opinion. In listening to a variety of accents, particularly from people whose native language is not English, you will first learn to get the general meaning of spoken English, though you may not understand every word.

Most of your work for the class will be done outside of class, to prepare for the class, especially for the discussions. I will provide the websites for the video segments. Please watch the segment each week as many times as necessary as you follow the instructions in your homework pages for the Vocabulary, Getting Main Ideas, Listening For Details, Fill In Blanks, Final Details, Internet Research, and Things To Talk About. Plan to spend an hour on the homework each week doing the homework.
