|科目の目的・到達目標||The Academic Writing courses begin with practice in the development of English paragraphs and end with the presentation of researched and documented papers in the Policy Sciences and Cultural Studies. Work in the courses will include activities designed to help students select and limit topics related to their own academic interests, to use reference materials available in the Chuo libraries to locate sources related to these, and relying on these and other sources to compose essays that are fully and fairly documented.|
|授業の概要||This course will build on academic writing skills introduced in first year, with particular emphasis placed on students producing longer, coherently argued and well referenced pieces of academic writing. Students will be encouraged to collaborate in the research, writing and drafting of reports and research projects in class and online.
Individual research projects will be set on topics relating to Policy and Cultural Studies. Each project will consist of a presentation and a written piece of work. Topics will be decided in consultation with the teacher. While developing students’ skills in academic writing, presentation and research, and online exchanges, this course aims to stimulate students’ interest and confidence in responding to contemporary policy and culture.
1. Further develop skills in academic writing, research, editing and argument, with the aim of producing a thoroughly researched essay on a topic related to contemporary Japan.
