|科目の目的・到達目標||The English Communication courses aim to equip students with the communicative skills they need to feel comfortable speaking and listening to English in a variety of settings, social, academic, and professional. Students will participate in activities designed to improve their listening comprehension and ability to make themselves understood in spoken English, including formal or informal presentations or other activities relevant to their personal and academic interests. Course materials may include news reports, interviews, and lectures from radio, television, video, or film, as well as materials prepared by students themselves to accompany presentations, debates, or discussions.|
|授業の概要||The purpose of this course is to provide students with the communicative skills they will need to interact orally with others in English in a variety of social, academic and professional settings. The instructor will expose students to a selection of different media – including newspapers, film, interviews and recorded lectures. Students will be expected to write and present their ideas to each other and to react to each other’s viewpoints in several areas relevant to their personal and academic interests.
Students will receive instruction in basic discussion techniques in English, including learning to state opinions, paraphrasing and disagreeing with the opinions of others, as well as how to use the debating techniques of clarifying and summarizing arguments.
Students will gain practice in using several presentational media to present their views, including posters, PowerPoints and electronic blogs.
