授業の概要

この科目は、問題解決力(外国語とコミュニケーションの能力及びコンピューターを利用した統計・情報処理と分析の能力を用いて、科学技術及び社会の急速な変化に対応しながら、さまざまな問題を解決することができる)の修得に関わる科目です。
<概要>
This course develops practical listening and speaking skills through contemporary, idea-driven topics and modeled communication. Students learn to understand spoken English more strategically (main ideas, details, stance, and key vocabulary) and then turn listening into meaningful speaking: discussions, short talks, and collaborative problem-solving. Because the course themes naturally touch on real-life choices (how we connect with others, how we decide what matters, and how we pursue goals), students will also practice expressing values, reflecting on decisions, and responding to different perspectives, while using English as a tool for personal growth as well as academic communication.

- Listening foundation: Build strategic listening ability for understanding intermediate spoken English (main ideas, key details, speaker stance).
- Speaking competence: Develop confident spoken interaction skills for discussions and short presentations in academic and real-world contexts.
- Critical engagement and growth: Use contemporary topics as a springboard for thoughtful discussion, reflection, and personal growth through expressing values and choices in English.
到達目標
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Comprehend: Identify the main idea and some key points from a unit listening/video.
2. Discuss: State an opinion and support it with reasons and examples, while responding to classmates’ ideas.
3. Interact: Ask relevant follow-up/clarification questions and use basic repair strategies (repeat/confirm/rephrase).
4. Present: Deliver a short presentation with a clear structure and signposting

Weekly worksheet (mostly done in class) is due by Saturday night (the day after the class).
