基本、英語について日本語で説明します。ただ、英和辞典に加えて、無料のオンライン学習英英辞典（Oxford Learner's Dictionary, Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English 等）を使用することもあります。Writing 課題は基本英語です。

授業の概要

①『ニュースメディアの英語 ―2026年度版―　English through the News Media -2025 Edition-』で、政治・経済・国際関係・様々な外国の情勢・文化・環境などのテーマについて、様々なニュース記事を読み、英字新聞の癖に馴染み、関連する語彙表現を増やしてもらいます。
②『CLIL Exploring Today's World』では、International Society, Globalization, Global Organizations, SDGs, Human Rights, Gender Inequality, Poverty and Development, Climate Crisis といった現代の大きなテーマに関して、基本的な英語知識を身につけ、応用として自分の考えを英語で書いてみる。

①が日々新しくなっていくニュースとその基本的な語彙力増強であるとすれば、②は英語による現代世界の基本情報の整理ということになります。

科目目的

論理的な思考力を求められるような主に現代の英語の文章を読み解き、多面的に理解し、自らの考えを構築することができる能力を身につけること。

到達目標

英語学習者向けに編纂された文章をあつかい、学生の教養に資する文章を読むための基礎となる読解能力を養う。基本的な語彙や文法に関する知識を定着させるとともに、単語の意味や文構造を確認しながら文章を正確に読解できるようになること。

本授業を履修した学生は、授業外で毎週 1-2 時間程度の予習復習などの学習を行うこと が求められます。

授業時間外の学修に必要な時間数／週

毎週１回の授業が半期（前期または後期）または通年で完結するもの。１週間あたり１時間の学修を基本とします。

単位修得の条件として、1学期の授業の内、欠席回数が3回を超えないことが求められます。

授業時間内で講評・解説の時間を設ける／授業時間に限らず、manabaでフィードバックを行う／その他

・英文和訳は時間が許す範囲で授業中に比較コメントをする。
・reading が主眼の授業のため、writing に関しては、授業時は総括的なコメントにとどめる。
・質問は、随時メールで受け付け、公益性がある場合はmanabaで回答する。

manabaの掲示板などを活用して授業内でアンケートを取り、授業への理解度の把握や、履修者の関心・意見を集めることで、双方向型の授業を行う。
・「英文和訳」は割り当て箇所を授業の前日までに提出してもらう。
・応用 writing に関しては、授業外で作業をし、授業時には、まとめたものを、基本匿名でmanaba配布をする。
