テキストベース・インタラクティブ・ラーニングの授業では、受講生それぞれが選択した関心のあるテーマについて調べ、その成果をクラスで共有することを通して英語を対話的に活用し、主体的な学びを実践します。

授業の概要
Theme: Contemporary Social Issues
This course focuses on contemporary social issues, including global, cultural, political, and legal topics, as they appear in multimedia news sources. Students use short videos, images, headlines, and brief written texts to understand how current issues are presented and discussed. By exploring shared themes and selecting aspects that interest them, students develop the ability to understand, discuss, and reflect on contemporary issues in English.

What You Will Do in Class Each Week
In this course, students work with multimedia sources such as videos, images, headlines, and short texts. Each week, students make and use notes to support comprehension and discussion. Through regular pair and small-group activities, students share ideas, ask questions, and discuss different perspectives. Students also practice creating discussion questions and reflecting on their learning and participation.

Autumn Course Outline
After an introductory stage (Weeks 1–2), the autumn semester follows a similar structure while gradually addressing more complex and abstract contemporary issues, including global, cultural, political, and legal topics. Students work more independently with multimedia sources and further develop explanation and discussion skills. At the end of the semester, students prepare simple presentation visuals and participate in small-group presentations and discussions. In Week 14, students review their development and complete a self-assessment

毎回の授業で行うこと
本授業では、動画、画像、見出し、短い英文などのマルチメディア資料を用いて学習を進めます。学生は毎回、内容理解やディスカッションを支えるためにノートを取り、活用します。授業内では、ペアや小グループで意見を共有し、質問を出し合い、異なる視点について話し合います。また、ディスカッション用の質問作成や、学習内容・参加についての振り返りを行います。

秋学期の授業概要
秋学期は、導入期間（第1～2週）の後、春学期と同様の構成で進めますが、より複雑で抽象的な現代社会の課題（グローバル・文化的・政治的・法的な話題を含む）を扱います。学生は、マルチメディア資料をより主体的に活用し、説明力やディスカッション力を高めていきます。学期末には、簡単なプレゼンテーション用の資料を作成し、小グループでのプレゼンテーションとディスカッションを行います。第14週には、学習の振り返りと自己評価を行います。
科目目的
The main objectives of this course are to help you:
(1) engage interactively with others around texts of different kinds (for example, written, audio-visual, multimedia) so that you can develop the ability to use English
(2) build your knowledge on topics and issues of interest to you
(3) share that knowledge interactively with other people
(4) develop your critical understanding of the world.

Students will be expected to do 2 hours or more preparation outside class each week, including reading (and/or listening), finding sources of information, note-taking, writing, and/or presentations, discussions, and other activities in class.
受講生は、クラスの授業以外で毎週２時間以上の予習をすることが求められます。ここで言う予習とは、リーディング、リスニング、情報や資料収集、ノートテ―キングやライティング、プレゼンテーション準備などを指します。
授業時間外の学修に必要な時間数／週
毎週１回の授業が半期（前期または後期）または通年で完結するもの。１週間あたり１時間の学修を基本とします。
成績評価の方法・基準

| 平常点 | 100 | Students will be graded mainly based on **continuous assessment**, in relation to (i) weekly preparation for class, (ii) active participation in class activities and discussions, (iii) products created during the semester, such as notes, presentation slides, short presentations, reflections, and self-assessments, and (iv) the overall quality and development of students’ use of English over time. There are no written exams in this course. Pair and group work will be used throughout the course. Students are expected to interact proactively with a variety of classmates as part of developing communication skills for academic, professional, and social contexts. Active use of English and willingness to take risks in expressing ideas are expected, and making mistakes is understood as a natural part of learning.
