授業の概要
Law shapes society, and society shapes law. This course explores how contemporary global issues challenge and transform legal systems, in Japan and internationally. Students will consider law in its social, political, environmental, and ethical context, using real-world case studies and current debates.
Law and Society is offered in both Spring and Autumn Semesters. Students may take one or both courses. Each semester covers distinct but complementary topics. While the Spring course introduces foundations of Law and Society and key debates about justice, the Autumn course focuses on global justice, human rights, migration, environment, and social change.
Students will be encouraged to think critically, discuss openly, and reflect on the role of law in shaping fair and sustainable societies.
