授業の概要
This course examines the historical developments, controversies, and future challenges surrounding Japan’s contribution to the formation and implementation of international law. It focuses on the Japanese government’s positions on issues related to international law, relevant theories and concepts developed in Japanese academia, and leading domestic cases, laws, and policies related to the implementation of international law in Japan.
Students are expected to discuss the law and policy relevant to each topic and to analyze Japanese approaches to international law from a comparative perspective by referring to the approaches adopted in their own countries.
科目目的
The purpose of this course is to offer insights into how Japan contributes to the development of international law and implements it at the domestic level as a member of the international community. Students are required to actively engage in classroom discussions based on questions posed during the lectures.

Students are required to read the textbook and the relevant materials provided for each class. Those who are not familiar with international law are encouraged to read a standard textbook on public international law.
