授業の概要

This is an academic communication and writing course. The aim of the course is to improve the ability to explain and discuss topics that include general issues of science, technology and the environment. Students will work on more advanced writing and communication skills, learning how to express complex ideas in a clear and comprehensible manner. They will participate actively in groups or pairs by asking questions, giving feedback, and showing interest in each other’s work. They will also learn some of the characteristics of different genres of spoken and written language, allowing them to communicate confidently in a variety of different situations.
英語表現演習4では、英語でのアカデミック・コミュニケーションとアカデミック・ライティング能力を有機的に、より発展的に伸ばすことを目指す。この授業では、主に科学、技術、環境の一般的な問題を含むトピックに関して説明し議論する能力をさらに高めることを目指す。また、各授業において、より高度なライティングとコミュニケーション技能の演習に取り組むことで、複雑な考えを明瞭で明確な方法で表現する方法を学ぶ。学生は質問やフィードバックをすることで、また相互の発表に興味を示すことで、グループやペアでの積極的な授業参加を行う。加えて、話し言葉と書き言葉という異なるジャンルの特徴についても学び、様々な表現の機会のそれぞれにおいて自信をもってコミュニケーションできるようにする。

In this course, students will improve their ability to explain and discuss topics that include general issues of science, technology and the environment.
英語表現演習4では、主に科学、技術、環境の一般的な問題を含むトピックに関して説明し議論する能力をさらに高めることを目的とする。

3. Communicate through a variety of different genres of spoken and written language.
英語表現演習4を通して、学生は以下のことが可能になることが期待される。
1．科学、技術、環境に関する諸問題を理解することができる。
2．複雑な考えを明瞭で明確な方法で表現することができる。
3．話し言葉と書き言葉という異なるジャンルに対応しながらコミュニケーションをとることができる。

授業内にわからなかった語・フレーズ・文を書きだし、次回までに必ず理解してくる。同様に、産出を試みたが失敗した語・フレーズ・文などはノートにメモし、辞書で調べ、わからないものに関しては担当教員に尋ねる。

授業時間外の学修に必要な時間数／週

・毎週１回の授業が半期（前期または後期）または通年で完結するもの。１週間あたり１時間の学修を基本とします。

Students who are more than 30 minutes late will be counted as absent.
Students whose attendance rate is below 70% will receive an E (failing) grade
