授業の概要
The main part of the class will be student-oriented discussion and debate. Prior to class, students are expected to complete online questionnaires and read news stories.
Students will discuss one topic every week. The weekly topic is introduced by the teacher, and a group discussion will follow. In the end, students will be divided into two groups to debate the topic in question.
Student led topics will be featured twice in one semester.

This course aims to cultivate presentation, discussion, and debate skills in English. With plenty of opportunities for daily life conversation in English, students will learn the professional use of language and demonstrate it in presentations, discussions, and debates on a variety of topics.

By the end of the course, students should be able to:
(a) make effective presentations that appeal to the audience;
(b) make persuasive arguments in the discussion; and
(c) debate on a variety of current social issues.

Each class will consist of a special reading and preparation for the following class.
You will need to spend approximately 90 minutes on homework.

Two-thirds attendance is required for awarding course credits.
Class subjects may be changed depending on class level and interest. The teacher strives to find topics students will be interested in.

Students MUST attend the first and second classes of the course, as they will be given seating assignments and learn how to use all of the platforms used in class.
Students should review basic conversation vocabulary before taking this course, such as asking questions and giving opinions, if necessary. The course is designed for CEFR B2 level and above.
