授業の概要

＜学位授与方針と当該授業科目の関連＞
この科目は、問題解決力（外国語とコミュニケーションの能力及びコンピューターを利用した統計・情報処理と分析の能力を用いて、科学技術及び社会の急速な変化に対応しながら、さまざまな問題を解決することができる）の修得に関わる科目です。
＜概要＞
In this course students will be asked to read passages taken from a wide range of academic disciplines such as architecture, psychology, careers, health sciences, and collaboration. To conclude each chapter, students will be asked to give a presentation based on what was covered in class, followed by a discussion.
The class will be conducted entirely in English and require active participation of all the members. Please make sure to bring a dictionary (either paper or electronic) to each class. Mobile devices are not allowed to be used as a dictionary. Using thesaurus / collocation dictionaries is highly recommended. Details will be given in the first class.
Schedule may be subject to change based on students’ needs.

To help students get to the point where they can discuss difficult topics skillfully
To help them to feel comfortable when making presentations on difficult topics
To help them to read difficult passages at a high level of comprehension

到達目標

The goal is to be able to read passages accurately and thereby learn the basic structure of English writing. Students will be required to apply that knowledge in the process of making their own presentation. Every presentation will be followed by a discussion, where others will be asked to make a comment and come up with questions that will facilitate the understanding of any given topic.

It is imperative that the student comes to class fully prepared. In addition to checking all the words and phrases you are not familiar with, please make sure to work on the discussion topics at home in order to have a fruitful discussion in class.
