授業の概要
Students will undertake various integrated activities using English to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills comprehensively. All class activities are conducted in English.
科目目的
This is an advanced English course,positioned as a global subject in the curriculum. Students who are enrolled in this course should already have relatively high proficiency in English and aim to use their language skills in various academic and business settings.
Specifically, they will focus on the following:
1. familiarizing themselves with how English is used in the real world.
2. using English effectively to present and discuss ideas.
3. promoting their intercultural understanding to become a better communicator.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. develop communication skills needed in order to work effectively with people whose personality or culture may be different from you.
2. develop communication skills needed in academic situations such as presentations and discussions.
3. develop writing skills in both academic and everyday settings.
授業計画と内容
Course Overview:
This course continues to develop students’ speaking fluency and listening comprehension, while expanding their ability to understand and discuss complex ideas in English. Students will explore topics in psychology, education, food and health, engineering, art, and data science through interactive discussions, TED Talks, and collaborative projects.
By engaging in mini-presentations, group work, and reflective activities, students will strengthen their critical thinking, vocabulary, and communication confidence in both academic and real-world contexts.
Weekly Schedule and Learning Objectives

2 Unit 5: “Lessons in Learning” (Psychology / Education)

• Express opinions about what makes effective learning.
3 TED Talk: “The Key to Success? Grit”
• Understand the concept of “grit” and perseverance.
• Identify key terms and examples in the talk.
• Relate the topic to personal learning experiences.
4 Unit 6: “Food for Life” (Food / Health)
• Explore connections between diet, culture, and health.
• Describe eating habits and give advice using modal expressions.
• Discuss food education and lifestyle choices.
5 TED Talk: “Teaching Every Child About Food”
• Listen for key information and supporting ideas.
• Apply information to discuss food education issues.
• Reflect on the role of schools and families in promoting healthy eating.
6 Mini-Presentation
• Prepare and deliver a short presentation on a chosen topic.
• Practice clear structure, pronunciation, and timing.
• Provide constructive feedback to peers.
7 Unit 9: “Changing Perspectives” (Engineering / Art)
• Explore the link between technology, design, and creativity.
• Practice describing innovations and expressing different viewpoints.
• Use comparative and contrastive language effectively.
8 TED Talk: “Deep Sea Diving in a Wheelchair”
• Understand how creativity and engineering can change perceptions.
• Listen for the speaker’s purpose and emotional tone.
• Discuss inclusion and accessibility in innovation.
9 Project: “Innovative Ideas”
• Collaborate on a creative or problem-solving project.
• Integrate vocabulary and communication strategies from previous units.

10 Group Presentation
