授業の概要

Students will undertake various integrated activities using English to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills comprehensively. All class activities will be conducted in English.

科目目的

This is an advanced English course,positioned as a global subject in the curriculum. Students who are enrolled in this course should already have relatively high proficiency in English and aim to use their language skills in various academic and business settings.
Specifically, they will focus on the following:
1. familiarizing themselves with how English is used in the real world.
2. using English effectively to present and discuss ideas.
3. promoting their intercultural understanding to become a better communicator.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. develop communication skills needed in order to work effectively with people whose personality or culture may be different from you. 2. develop business skills needed in different business situations such as presentations and discussions. 3. develop writing skills in both academic and business settings.

授業計画と内容

Course Overview:
This course is designed to enhance students' proficiency in spoken English and listening comprehension. Through a variety of interactive activities, discussions, presentations, and audio materials, students will develop their speaking fluency, pronunciation, and listening skills in various real-life and business-related contexts.

Week 1: Introduction to Speaking and Listening
Introduction to the course and syllabus overview
Ice-breaking activities to encourage speaking in a comfortable environment
Week 2: Speaking practice: Introducing oneself and others, basic conversations
Week 3: Vocabulary expansion exercises related to daily life, work, and hobbies
Week 4: Practice exercises on pronunciation, stress, and intonation
Listening activities focusing on identifying specific words and phrases
Week 5-6: Communication Skills Development
Engaging in group activities
Listening comprehension exercises with short dialogues and monologues
Week 7: Students prepare and deliver short speeches or presentations
Peer-to-peer interviews and feedback sessions
Week 8-9: Listening to and discussing podcasts or audio clips on various topics
Week 10-13: Cultural Understanding through Listening and Speaking
Listening to diverse cultural perspectives through audio materials
Group discussions on cultural differences and similarities
Presentations on cultural aspects of students' native countries
Week 14: Review and Assessment

Resources:
Textbooks, audiovisual materials, online resources, and interactive language learning platforms
Podcasts, TED Talks, and other listening materials
Online speaking platforms for additional practice and interaction

Note: The syllabus is adaptable and can be modified based on the students' proficiency level and their specific needs.
