授業の概要
This is an introductory course in economic principles that help us understand how an economy functions in today’s society. The course introduces economic reasoning as well as techniques used by economists that can analyze and explain the complex modern economy. The course first deals with coordination mechanism in a market economy and its role, then devotes to the study of macroeconomics---the analysis of the economy at the aggregate level. We also discuss macroeconomic policy issues such as the financial crisis and budget deficit.
**This class is fully delivered by an on-site and in-person format.**

Students who successfully complete the following three criteria will receive a grade of B or higher.
1. Demonstrate basic understanding of economic theory.
2. Apply basic economic theories to understand current economic issues and evaluate policy options.
3. Understand and use quantitative data to analyze economic issues.

Class attendance is mandatory since most exam questions will come from lecture materials. The class schedule, including exam schedule, is attached at the end of this file. There will be one midterm exam and a final exam. The only acceptable excuse for a missed exam is a medical emergency with documentation.
Please note the date and time of the final (to be announced), do not leave town before the final. No make-up exams will be given. This class has a substantial amount of homework that will often take a significant amount of time to complete.
