Students must have passed Seminar IV.
Students who are aiming to write a graduation thesis (卒業論文) must have completed the main data analyses and regressions for their thesis. Specifically, before Seminar V begins, all such students must have the following materials prepared: a clear and well-formulated hypothesis, appropriate data to test the hypothesis, a data description with descriptive statistics, meaningful estimation results from data analyses, and a review of the most relevant academic literature.
Students who are aiming to complete a graduation project (i.e., a review research paper) (卒業研究) must have prepared a list of previous studies related to their research questions and reviewed the most important works on that list.

授業の概要
Seminar V is intended to enable students to complete the writing of either a graduation thesis (卒業論文) or a graduation project (卒業研究). Specifically, the seminar provides guidance on how to integrate the materials students have prepared, as applicable—such as the problem statement, research hypotheses or questions, literature review, methodology, data description (including descriptive statistics), data analyses, and regression results—into a coherent paper formatted in accordance with APA style.
科目目的
Students should be able to complete writing the papers (either graduation thesis, 卒業論文, or graduation project, 卒業研究), follow the required style and meet the corresponding conditions on time.
到達目標
Students can submit their papers (either 卒業論文 or 卒業研究) on time and above the minimum quality requirements.

Students must declare whether they use AI in the preparation of each presentation and must specify the exact prompts or sentences submitted to any AI chatbot. Students will not receive credit if they rely primarily on AI to complete their work or if they fail to properly acknowledge AI usage.
The requirements for graduation thesis (卒業論文) and graduation project (i.e., a review research paper, 卒業研究) will be introduced in details in the seminar.

その他特記事項
Deadline for thesis submission is a hard deadline. The deadline is often in the first week of December. Students' theses must satisfy the format and standards of the GLOMAC.
Class attendance is mandatory. Absences without valid reasons are strongly discouraged. The seminars are cumulative and build on prior knowledge. Without a solid understanding of fundamental concepts and consistent participation, it will be extremely difficult to follow the course material and complete the graduation thesis.
All materials introduced in class are directly applied to the graduation thesis. Insufficient attention during classes—including other students’ presentations—or poor attendance will prevent students from properly applying the material and may delay graduation. Students who miss a class are fully responsible for covering the missed content on their own. Students who miss more than five classes will not be eligible to receive course credit.
Pasting course materials into AI chatbots or uploading them to the public domain is strictly prohibited. Such actions would violate copyright laws.
All presentations, lectures, discussions, and the papers (graduation thesis, 卒業論文, and a graduation project, 卒業研究) are entirely in English.
Students are required to regularly check their university email and Manaba for important announcements. Clear and timely communication is essential for resolving issues. When contacting the instructor, emails must include a clear subject line, the student’s full name, student ID, and a statement indicating that the inquiry concerns this course. Emails should be concise, clear, and proofread before sending.
