授業の概要
We will follow the step-by-step instructions in the textbook to learn the basic skills in academic essay writing.
Notes:
* Students are required to actively participate in pair work and group work.
* Students are strongly encouraged to speak in English in class.
科目目的
このコースの目的は、アカデミック・エッセイの書き方についての基礎的な知識を習得することです。春学期は説明エッセイと問題解決エッセイを一本ずつ完成させます。
到達目標
Through writing two essays, students will learn
- how to write an introduction completed with a hook, background information, and a thesis statement
- how to write body paragraphs complete with a topic sentence and different types of support sentences
- how to write a conclusion complete with a summary of the body paragraphs and a proper closing comment, and
- how to format their essays in MLA style.
