授業の概要

＜学位授与方針と当該授業科目の関連＞
この科目は、問題解決力（外国語とコミュニケーションの能力及びコンピューターを利用した統計・情報処理と分析の能力を用いて、科学技術及び社会の急速な変化に対応しながら、さまざまな問題を解決することができる）の修得に関わる科目です。
＜概要＞
This is primarily a speaking and listening course based on day to day situations and some current affairs topics. Vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading and a few small writing exercises are also included in each unit.
Each unit starts with discussion questions about the topic, followed by relevant vocabulary, necessary for progressing throughout the unit. This is then followed by a listening activity which focusses on specific listening skills, then follow up discussion and a speaking task which will be done in pairs or small groups. Vocabulary will be evaluated in unit quizzes, and there will be ongoing evaluation of speaking and listening skills in the form of presentations, debates, discussions or surveys.

There are 12 units in the book. Units 1-6 will be studied in the first semester.

Lesson 3: Unit 1. Further discussion. Language Focus - Asking for and giving opinions. Follow-up speaking task - planning a Vacation. Unit 1 quiz.

Lesson 4: Unit 2. MOVIES. Discussion questions, vocabulary, listening, reading.

Lesson 5. Unit 2. Further discussion. Language Focus - Understanding Criteria. Follow - up speaking task - discussing movies. Prepare surveys. Unit 2 quiz.

Lesson 6: Unit 3. DATING. Discussion questions, vocabulary, listening, reading.

Lesson 7: Unit 3. Further Discussion. Language Focus - Agreeing and Disagreeing. Debate. Unit 3 quiz.

Lesson 8: Unit 4. PART-TIME JOBS. Discussion questions, vocabulary, listening, reading.

Lesson 9: Further Discussion. Language Focus - Giving Reasons. Giving advice about part time jobs. Follow - up speaking task - giving advice about part time jobs. Unit 4 quiz.

Lesson 10: Unit 5. LEARNING ENGLISH. Discussion Questions, vocabulary, listening, reading.

Lesson 11: Unit 5. Further discussion. Language focus - supporting your reasons. Flipgrid assignment.

Lesson 12: Unit 6. HOPES & DREAMS. Discussion questions, vocabulary, listening, reading.

Lesson 13: Unit 6. Further discussion. Language Focus - Asking for explanations. Follow - up speaking task - discussing future plans. Unit 6 quiz.

Lesson 14: Individual speaking tests. Review of course.
