授業の概要

この科目は、問題解決力(外国語とコミュニケーションの能力及びコンピューターを利用した統計・情報処理と分析の能力を用いて、科学技術及び社会の急速な変化に対応しながら、さまざまな問題を解決することができる)の修得に関わる科目です。
<概要>
Global Issues 2 will focus on specific challenges as well as successes from Economic Globalization, which began in 1990, considering in more detail how people in developing countries are affected by it, led by wealthy countries, with a special focus on leaders from around the world who are challenging the structures of globalization, from Latin America to Asia to Africa. We will consider the textile industry, in particular, in India and Bangladesh. Students will learn more deeply about the following issues and topics: Child Labor, Democratic Power, World Water Crisis, Beliefs of Multinational Corporations, Profits and Workers Rights, Slave Labor Past & Present, and the Corporate control of the Food Supply Chain.
In this class you will be learning English mainly through research, discussions and presentations on a variety of topics including personal, business, politics and economic issues that affect both Japan and the world.
You will be expected to work in small groups and have discussions on the topics you choose. In addition, you will also study and learn about presentation techniques and how to prepare.
Also time will be spent with pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary during each class.

The English Communication courses aim to equip students with the communicative skills they need to feel comfortable speaking and listening to English in a variety of settings, social, academic, and professional.
To help students to get to the point where they are comfortable conversing in everyday situations
To help them feel confident in expressing opinions on important issues
To bring their reading and writing skills to an intermediate (collegiate) level

Students will participate in activities designed to improve their listening comprehension and ability to make themselves understood in spoken English, including formal or informal presentations or other activities relevant to their personal and academic interests.

Grades are based on the following:
The teacher will give regular feedback on each assignment and assign a grade for each of the assignments, based on 0-100, after carefully going over the students work.
