授業の概要

＜学位授与方針と当該授業科目の関連＞
この科目は、問題解決力（外国語とコミュニケーションの能力及びコンピューターを利用した統計・情報処理と分析の能力を用いて、科学技術及び社会の急速な変化に対応しながら、さまざまな問題を解決することができる）の修得に関わる科目です。
＜概要＞
This is primarily a speaking and listening course based on day to day situations and some current affairs topics. Students will learn how to think critically and express themselves clearly in English.
Vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading and a few small writing exercises are also included in each unit.
Each unit starts with discussion questions about the topic, followed by relevant vocabulary, necessary for progressing throughout the unit. This is then followed by a listening activity which focusses on specific listening skills, then follow up discussion and a speaking task which will be done in pairs or small groups. Vocabulary will be evaluated in unit quizzes, and there will be ongoing evaluation of speaking and listening skills in the form of presentations, debates, discussions or surveys.

To help students to get to the point where they are comfortable conversing in everyday situations.
To help them feel confident in expressing opinions on important issues.
To promote critical thinking skills, improve fluency, discussion skills and presentation skills.

By the end of this course students should be able to:
Understand the main points of a listening task, effectively take notes and answer comprehension questions. Produce grammatically clear sentences on the topic studied using the vocabulary taught.
Confidently participate in discussions and work together to plan, prepare and deliver presentations. Write original and grammatically accurate scripts for presentations.

Lesson 3. Unit 8: STUDY ABROAD. Discussion questions, vocabulary, listening and note-taking, reading.

Lesson 4. Unit 8. Follow- up speaking practice. Further discussion, mini interviews. Unit 8 quiz.

Lesson 5. Unit 9: ECOTOURISM. Discussion questions, vocabulary, listening and note-taking, reading.

Lesson 6. Unit 9. Follow-up speaking practice. Further discussion, prepare poster presentation. Unit 9 quiz.

Lesson 7. Unit 10. EDUCATION. Discussion questions, vocabulary, listening and note-taking, reading. Homework, flipgrid assignment.

Lesson 8. Unit 11. THE ENVIRONMENT. Discussion questions, vocabulary, listening and note-taking, reading.

Lesson 9. Unit 11. Follow- up speaking practice. Further discussion, prepare poster presentation. Choose from list of topics. Unit 11 quiz.

Lesson 10. Unit 11. Deliver poster presentation.

Lesson 11. Unit 12. INTERNATIONAL MARRIAGE. Discussion question. vocabulary, listening.

Lesson 12. Prepare presentations of own choice.

Lesson 13. Deliver presentations of own choice.

Lesson 14. Individual speaking tests. Review of course.
