授業の概要
This course will help you improve your confidence in communicating in English. Issues will be chosen by the instructor and will focus on current social issues both in Japan as well as other countries. Students will also be given the opportunity to choose their preference for discussion test topic based on their interests. We will focus on discussion skills, learning how to effectively start, participate in and conclude discussions in English based on the topics you have been assigned to learn about.

Through explaining and discussing a variety of current issues students will build their English skills, confidence in using English and become comfortable in using English to express their opinions.

By the end of this course, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to do the following:
1) Learn how to actively participate in discussions
2) ask critical thinking questions
3) explain to others as well as be able to answer clarification questions
4) create presentations to explain your issue and have a discussion with your classmates
5) be able to confidently express your opinion and engage in a conversation about current topics
