授業の概要
In Semester 2 students will continue to think critically and express themselves clearly in English. Each unit of the textbook will introduce a topic with a discussion activity, which will be followed up by studying key vocabulary. A listening activity on the topic will focus on specific listening skills. Follow-up discussions will then take place, and there will be a follow-up speaking task. Knowledge of key vocabulary and linguistic skills will be evaluated in unit quizzes, and discussion skills will be evaluated in a discussion test. More advanced presentation skills will be assessed in a poster-presentation speaking test.
科目目的
he purpose of this course is to promote critical thinking, and help students improve their fluency, conversational skills, discussion skills, and presentation skills. A focus on discussion language and meta-skills will give students the confidence to engage in extended discussions on a variety of contemporary topics, and about their fields of interests.
到達目標
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
a. express themselves fluently and spontaneously on a wide range of subjects, giving points of view at length.
b. conduct discussions with a high level of discussion skills, using appropriate discussion language.
c. understand extended speech and follow arguments on topics not familiar to them.
d. deliver presentations in an academic manner.

Key vocabulary and concepts from each unit will be tested in regular quizzes, and students will be expected to study for these. In addition, extra online study related to the textbook can be carried out online.
