授業の概要
This academic writing course for English majors is meant to improve students' ability to write cogent, well-structured paragraphs and essays. We'll focus on writing thesis statements, organizing ideas in a logical manner, writing main ideas and supporting ideas, using transitions effectively, and writing in a clear, concise, and informative manner.
This class will meet weekly on campus. If there are any unexpected changes to our schedule, I will post the information on Manaba.

Write a topic statement in a clear and organized manner
Write a paragraph in a clear and well-organized manner

Write an interesting introduction and conclusion.
Write effective supporting sentences.
Write confidently in a way that will be useful beyond this classroom, whether in other classes, graduate school, or your future workplace.
授業計画と内容
In this class, you will write paragraphs on a variety of topics. We will work on topic sentences, structure and organization, purpose, clarity, and descriptive language.
1. Course overview
2. Write introductions, including three to four interesting things about yourself.
3. Identifying purpose and topics. Topic 1: Short-term and Long-term goals.
4. Brainstorming and Word Mapping. Topic 2: Hometowns.
5. Topic Sentences. Topic 3: Describe your club or circle.
6. Descriptive Language: Topic 4: English Skills - Describe your out-of-class work.
7. Social Network (prep for social media)
8. Social Network (prep for social media)
9. Supporting Sentences. Topic 5: Social Media
10. Writing Conclusions. Topic 6: Music
11. Free topic prep: Brainstorming.
12. Topic 7: Free topic
13. Review semester material: Topic, Topic Sentences, Introduction, Supporting Sentences, Conclusion.
14. Write a postcard describing your summer plans. Postcards will be provided.

平常点 | 90 | Completion of all writing assignments, both in and out of class. Quality of Work Submitted. Submission of work on time. Late work will result in lost points. Work not submitted will result in lost points. |
