授業の概要
Lectures, exercises, and assignments. Students will be introduced to writing techniques according to the types and purposes of the writing, using a step-by step approach. First, students will review basic English grammar, followed by practice exercises, and finally set essays.
科目目的
This course will teach students how to express themselves in clear, well-organized text and how to write effective paragraphs in an appropriate format of academic writing.
到達目標
Students will write logical essays in MLA style.
Students will learn the basic structure of essays: introduction, body and conclusion.
Students will learn the basic structure of the introduction in essays: hook, background, and thesis statement.
Students will learn the basic structure of paragraphs: topic sentence, supporting sentence and examples.
Students will learn how to paraphrase and quote with citations.
Students will learn how to make a bibliography.

I have written academic essays and dissertations in English in both undergraduate and graduate levels in British universities and also published a paper.

I aim at guiding students to first, think about the purpose of writing a certain topic; second, organize the logical structure; and finally, write in MLA style.
As well as the basic things above, my class would introduce some practical tips to improve writing such as using sentence variations, and etc.
