この科目は、問題解決力（外国語とコミュニケーションの能力及びコンピューターを利用した統計・情報処理と分析の能力を用いて、科学技術及び社会の急速な変化に対応しながら、さまざまな問題を解決することができる）の修得に関わる科目です。
＜概要＞
Course summary
The Japanese Government’s “Cool Japan” campaign has tried to promote Japan across the globe by using its traditional and pop cultural influence. Through lectures (listening); discussion and presentations (speaking); weekly short articles (reading), and note taking, summaries and reports (writing), students will learn how to explain and critically analyze the influence of various aspects of Japanese culture around the world.

To encourage students to discuss Japanese culture and its influence on other cultures.

To help students expand their vocabulary on various topics.
To help students build their critical thinking skills.

Students will be required to read an article and write a 2-3 sentence summary about the article to prepare for every lesson. For Class 8 and 14, they will have to prepare a slide presentation and lead a small group discussion about their topic by making discussion questions. Students should also review their new vocabulary. If a student’s absence on the day of a Presentation and Discussion is excused by the department, the student may complete an alternate assignment outside of class for evaluation.

・毎週１回の授業が半期（前期または後期）または通年で完結するもの。１週間あたり１時間の学修を基本とします。

成績評価の方法・基準

成績評価の方法・基準（備考）

授業開始後30分以上の遅刻、および授業終了30分以前の早退は欠席とみなし、遅刻・早退2回で欠席1回とみなします。全14回の授業のうち、10回以上の出席を評価対象とするための最低条件とします（＝欠席は４回まで）。
また、授業中で態度によっては（忘れ物、居眠り、過度な私語、無断退室、私的なスマートフォンの使用等）たとえ出席していても欠席扱いにする場合があります。
