授業の概要

＜学位授与方針と当該授業科目の関連＞
この科目は、問題解決力（外国語とコミュニケーションの能力及びコンピューターを利用した統計・情報処理と分析の能力を用いて、科学技術及び社会の急速な変化に対応しながら、さまざまな問題を解決することができる）の修得に関わる科目です。

＜概要＞

This course enhances listening and comprehension skills by engaging with current events across various domains, including Unique Personal Qualities and Fashion, Ethics and Relationships, Modern Life and Addictions, Social Media and Social Issues, and Personal Finances and Social Situations. Students will refine their information capture, analytical, and speaking abilities by utilizing listening exercises, podcasts, video analysis, and effective note-taking method. Regular discussions and group projects encourage critical thinking and a global perspective, equipping students with the tools needed to articulate informed opinions and engage in meaningful dialogue about world events.

Classes will involve listening tasks, conversation practice, vocabulary tasks/quizzes, and small-group presentations. Homework will mainly involve presentation and conversation preparation/practice, as well as vocabulary work.

Day 2: Unit 1: Unique Personal Qualities

Day 3: Complete Unit 1: Unique Fashion and Workplace Discrimination / Intro to Unit 2

Day 4: Unit 2: Ethics and Relationships - Honesty and Friendship

Day 5: Complete Unit 2: Ethics and Peer Pressure / Intro to Unit 3

Day 6: Unit 3: Modern Life and Addictions and Small Group Presentation Preparation

Day 7: Complete Unit 3: Technology and Addicitons / Midterm Presentations

Day 8: Unit 4: Social Media and Careers

Day 9: Unit 4: Gender Issues and Social Media

Day 10: Complete Unit 4 and Intro to Unit 5

11: Unit 5: Personal Finances and Gender Issues

12: Unit 5: Social Situations and Finances

13: Final Presentations; Submit notebooks.

Students will be evaluated on the basis of their homework, preparation for class, note taking, and performance in class. Grades will be automatically reduced if students come to class unprepared or if they have any unexcused absences (100%).
