授業の概要

この科目は、問題解決力(外国語とコミュニケーションの能力及びコンピューターを利用した統計・情報処理と分析の能力を用いて、科学技術及び社会の急速な変化に対応しながら、さまざまな問題を解決することができる)の修得に関わる科目です。
<概要>
This course will improve your ability to communicate in English. You will write and present several two-minute speeches in this class. You will also work in small groups to discuss and present your ideas. You have studied English for years but probably do not feel confident speaking English in public. The best way to gain confidence is to practice. Discussing, writing and presenting your ideas in class will strengthen your English ability, your creative writing ability, and your public speaking ability. I will use class time to help you improve your pronunciation, grammar, word choice, and public speaking skills.

To give them opportunities to read about important issues and improve their speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills

授業計画と内容
Week 1: Orientation and explanation of course objectives. Introductions.
Week 2: Game Day: "The Writing Game"
Week 3: In class preparation - Two-person play (How our lives are different)
Week 4: 1. Two-person play: “How our lives are different” (Four minutes)
Week 5: Short film screening (TBA) & reaction paper writing activity.
Week 6: Survey. You will carry out a survey of your classmates. You will ask four good questions on any topic you want to learn about. Use this information to prepare a two-minute speech.
Week 7: 1) Survey Report - Group A. 2 minute individual presentations. You have conducted research using your classmates, and maybe others. What did you learn from your survey? Use graphs, quotes, etc., in your presentation if possible.
Week 8: 1) Survey Report - Group B. 2 minute individual presentations
Week 9: News day 1. Small group, translation and summary of current events with slide presentation.
Week 10: Three person play in-class preparation day. (Movies)
Week 11: 5. Three person play (6 minute presentations)
Week 12: 5a. My goals, and how I will reach them. What do you want to accomplish in your life. Write down specific goals that you want to achieve. (Health, wealth, relationships, possessions, adventures, accomplishments)
Week 13: 5b. My goals, and how I will reach them. Group B
Week 14: Presentation make-up day & “My plans” writing activity.
