授業の概要
Global Studies I is an opportunity for 1st year students to develop their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, while preparing for short-term study overseas during the summer of 2021. This course will discuss different topics such as globalization, global citizenship, cross-cultural understanding, the role of Japan in the international community and international relations between Japan and United States.
科目目的
This course aims to help you gain confidence with English and develop your English communication skills before studying abroad. All students in the Faculty of Global Management are expected to take courses taught in English, as well as be able to do study abroad in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year.
In order to develop the skills and confidence necessary for classwork in English and study abroad, 1st year students are encouraged to begin strengthening their English abilities as soon as possible. This class is a stepping stone to successful bilingual studies during your 4 years in the Global Management Faculty.

First half: Students are expected to acquire the following:
・Guess the meaning of words from the context without a dictionary when reading English texts.
・Understand global challenges related to the environment and culture.
・Accumulate an awareness of global issues so that you can actively participate in classes offered by an overseas university.
Second half: Students will be required to understand diverse cultures and improve their English skills.

・First half: Remote classes using Manaba. The type of remote learning is on-demand, a combination of self- study (assignments) lessons and material distribution lessons.
・Second half: Remote classes with real-time interactive lessons using Zoom.
