授業の概要
This course provides basic knowledge about fundamental concepts of international finance, and the historical development of institutions and policies in the field. We will study how international finance has supported the integration of national economies, how exchange rate movements influence the international competitiveness of domestic companies, and how instabilities and disfunctions in the international financial system cause global economic crises. We will also analyze and discuss different exchange rate regimes, international monetary systems and currency unions like the euro area from a historical, theoretical and policy perspective.
科目目的
The course aims at providing students with basic knowledge about international finance. In particular, it aims at deepening their theoretical and practical understanding of balance of payment statistics, different exchange rate regimes and international monetary systems, exchange rate dynamics and financial linkages between national economies, the globalization of financial markets and optimal currency areas.
到達目標
Students will acquire basic theoretical and practical knowledge about various subjects in the field of international finance. This will enable them to better understand the global financial environment, in which international businesses operate. They will learn how to analyze the appreciation and depreciation of currencies and how to interpret important events like international financial crises.
