授業の概要
Students will begin by learning the scanning and skimming skills necessary for Fast Reading, developing their ability to read short texts quickly and accurately. Students will read a variety of magazine articles, websites, newspapers, and journal articles in order to practice and develop fast reading skills. Students will be quizzed on articles they have read to test their scanning and skimming skills.
A common graded reader will be used in class for skills practice, discussion, and comprehension checks. Students will be encouraged to develop their vocabulary by keeping a vocabulary notebook. Small group discussions will be held at the end of each chapter where students will be encouraged to discuss their opinions on and comprehension of the story.
科目目的
Students will develop the reading skills necessary to read newspaper and magazine articles quickly and accurately. Skills such as scanning and skimming for specific information or main ideas will be developed. In addition, students will be given the opportunity to read and enjoy short stories without much effort.

To be able to read text quickly and efficiently with a high degree of comprehension.

Class 3. Fast reading Article #1 and reading skills practice.
Class 4. Group Reading Graded Reader, vocabulary notes, and chapter discussion.
Class 5. Fast reading Article #2, Quiz #1 and reading skills practice.
Class 6. Group Reading Graded Reader, vocabulary notes, and chapter discussion.
Class 7. Fast reading Article #3, Quiz #2 and reading skills practice.
Class 8. Group Reading Graded Reader, vocabulary notes, and chapter discussion.
Class 9. Fast Reading Skill test, peer-marking and individual goal-setting.
Class 10. Group Reading Graded Reader, vocabulary notes, and chapter discussion.
Class 11. Fast reading current Article #4, Quiz #3 and reading skills practice.
Class 12. Finish Graded Reader, class discussion and post-read activities.
Class 13. Fast reading current Article #5, Quiz #4 and reading skills practice.
Class 14. Confirmation of achievement goals.
