<概要>
The focus of this course is presentation skills, both skills related to planning and writing presentations in English and skills needed to deliver effective presentations. Students will prepare original content for multiple presentations throughout the semester. Students will listen to classmates’ presentations and practice techniques for taking notes and asking questions about the content of presentations.
Throughout the semester, three types of skills will be introduced: 1) skills related to the “methods” of giving presentations (e.g., gestures, enunciation), 2) skills related to the preparation of “materials” used with giving presentations (e.g., visual aids such as posters and PowerPoint presentations, notecards), and 3) skills related to the practice of “actively listening” to presentations (e.g., note-taking strategies, listening strategies, formation of questions). Classwork will include preparing, practicing, and giving presentations (speaking) and engaging in peer evaluations and responding to classmates’ presentations with constructive feedback and questions (active listening).
