授業の概要
This class will focus on developing students' writing abilities on a range of subjects, and in different styles. Additionally, students will build proofreading skills by editing their own, and others', work.
Individual lessons will deal with different aspects and styles of writing. Group discussion about the text, or related topics, will support students' understanding of the differences between different styles.
科目目的
These two consecutive writing courses are designed to improve writing skills. The students write essays in a variety of contexts on a weekly basis. There will also be a final report to reflect the development of skills. The focus of the class is to develop essay writing forms and expression of ideas in natural English.

During both terms, all work must be finished on-time and submitted to the CHUO MANABA system before the assignment deadlines. So it is important to develop discipline and efficient self-study habits.
授業時間外の学修に必要な時間数/週
・毎週1回の授業が半期(前期または後期)または通年で完結するもの。1週間あたり1時間の学修を基本とします。

Following the correct essay writing form is important. Each writing assignment will include the creation of a first draft and a second draft with an explanation of changes in the writing based on feedback from workshops. |

Workshop classes will be when we will discuss each other's writing. Feedback from other students is very important for this class. Attendance in the workshop sessions is mandatory, as is participation in giving actionable feedback online to other students' writings. The teacher will also give feedback during the workshop sessions.

This class is designed to influence learner autonomy. The material should be examined before writing starts. Students are encouraged to self-direct by developing the focus of their essays. They not only create their own questions but also give scores reflecting their opinions of their own work.

The teacher has experience teaching English in Japanese universities since 2002. He has a master's degree in TEFL. The teacher is a published author of research papers and has experience editing research and dissertations as well as novel writing.
