授業の概要
The focus of this course is to improve your skills for English presentations.
In each lesson, students will learn types of presentations and their specific features, structures, and languages.
By reviewing them carefully, students are instructed to create their presentations, with a script and visual aids, and practice presentations in class.
Students will also learn to collect information, cite the sources, and respond to the audience properly.
At the end of each semester, students will create their final presentation using their learning.
Lesson guideline:
We use electrical devices for PowerPoint and Word in class, you need to bring a device (PC, laptop, or tablet).
科目目的
The course aims to help students improve the basic presentation skills, which they gained in the first semester of the course.
In the second semester, students will learn the knowledge of another set of presentation types, and then conduct 2 major presentation projects. These are designed to make students work more independently and evaluate their own learning constructively.
The goal of the course is to develop students’ skills for giving an effective and clear presentation in English in practical situations, such as academic and business meetings.
到達目標
By the end of the course, all students will have extensive practice giving presentations.
They should be able to prepare for a formal or semi-formal presentation by themselves:
- to be able to write a script with proper citation
- to be able to create the effective visual aids
- to be able to deliver the speech
In addition, the students are expected to feel confident and comfortable with giving a public speech and respond to the audience reactions.

Students are expected to spend at least two or three hours per a lesson.
Since this course is project-oriented, students are expected to work not only during lesson time, but also outside class, to prepare and practice presentation projects.

毎週1回の授業が半期(前期または後期)または通年で完結するもの。1週間あたり1時間の学修を基本とします。

Note the following points:
1) If you are absent 4 times or more, you will FAIL.
2) Don't use your smartphone or device for purposes unrelated to class
3) No late submission will be accepted.
The percent of S grade in this class: 10-20%
