授業の概要
This course gives students basic skills in English presentation.
Students are instructed
-how to write a good script,
-create effective slides, and
-use practice physical messages such as voice inflection and eye contact.
For the goal, students will engage in six major projects.
The first semester projects are: introducing oneself, presenting world news, and creating travel plans.
The second semester projects are: introducing Japan, discussing social issues, and talking about your future plans.
Though these projects with diverse topics, students practice public speaking using PowerPoint.
Also, they learn how to use data and graphics to make an informative presentation.
By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to give a formal and semi-formal presentation in English.
科目目的
This course focuses on output: how students communicate information in English.
This involves extensive practice in script writing and the use of voice, eye contact, gestures, and other body language. Students will also make use of audio-visual and computer resources, including presentation software such as Microsoft PowerPoint (or similar software).
As with the companion course Reading Focus for SDGs, presentations in the course will be on themes relevant to SDGs.

By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to prepare and practice a formal presentation:
More specifically the followings are the goals:
-to had extensive practice in script writing and presentation
-to had learned to plan and present oral presentation, using PowerPoint styled slideshows.
-to been able to use various presentation skills, including body languages.
-to had experienced preparing and giving presentations on the SDGs-related themes.
**Though the basic expectations are the same as the first part of the course, students are expected to use the presentation skills they have built during the first term of the course.

Because this course focuses on student experience with practicing presentations, all students are expected to spend time practicing oral presentation outside a lesson time.
授業時間外の学修に必要な時間数/週
毎週1回の授業が半期(前期または後期)または通年で完結するもの。1週間あたり1時間の学修を基本とします。

Each project = 10% (10% x 3 projects = 30 %)
Presentation 60%
Each project =20% ( 20% x 3 projects = 60%)*
Active participation 10%
*In a group presentation, you will be evaluated individually.
Note the following points:
1) If you are absent 4 times or more, you will FAIL.
2) Don't use your smartphone or device for purposes unrelated to class
3) No late submission will be accepted.
The percent of S grade in this class: 0-10%
