The focus of this course is to improve oral English communication through learning communication strategies for various contexts. During the first term, we will focus on understanding communication strategies, such as backchanneling, disagreeing, interrupting and asking follow-up questions. These are key skills necessary to improve overall English vernal communication. In the second semester we will be putting the learning of the first term into practice through using them in scenarios weekly. These scenarios will occur in pairs or groups and allow students to practice and explore useful oral communication techniques.
During this class we will focus on spoken English. We will use a wide variety of activities and scenarios to practice listening in English and responding appropriately in English for each situation.
Students will be able to express themselves in different contexts using the appropriate communication techniques.
