授業の概要
The Performance Focus courses teach presentation and visual literacy skills, aiming to teach students how to effectively communicate information through presentations and visual material. Students will prepare and deliver presentations (either individually or in groups) on topics relevant to the field of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals are:
- No poverty
- Zero hunger
- Good health and well-being
- Quality education
- Gender equality
- Clean water and sanitation
- Affordable and clean energy
- Decent work and economic growth
- Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
- Reduced inequalities
- Sustainable cities and communities

科目目的
This course aims to improve students' ability to communicate in English. Students will participate in activities designed to improve their listening comprehension and ability to make themselves understood in spoken English, including formal or informal presentations or other activities relevant to SDGs in local and global contexts.
Students will also make use of audio-visual and computer resources, including presentation software such as Microsoft PowerPoint (or similar software). They may also learn how to create poster presentations (optional).
As with the companion course Reading Focus for SDGs, presentations in the course will be on themes relevant to SDGs.
到達目標
By the end of the course, all students will have extensive practise giving presentations. They will have learnt how to plan and present oral presentations, including PowerPoint-style slideshows with clear, concise, and engaging use of text and graphics. They will also understand how to engage with the audience effectively.
They will also have experience presenting on SDG-related themes.
