授業の概要

This is an intermediate to advanced 4-skill course focusing particularly on academic speaking and listening with the additional goal of improving performance on the TOEIC test. Students will continue to work on their communication skills, listening to longer academic talks, including those related to science, technology and the environment, and responding actively. They will share information and opinions in pairs and groups and research topics in English for presentations and discussions. They will also gain practice in completing TOEIC exercises, with a particular focus on the listening sections of the test. They will build up their knowledge of vocabulary both for use on the test and general situations.
英語表現演習4(S)は学科混合の選抜クラスで、英語4技能、特にアカデミックなスピーキング・リスニング能力の育成を目指す。また、TOEICテストでの高得点取得も目指す。この授業では、科学、技術、環境に関連するものも含んだ長めのアカデミックなトークを聞き、積極的に応答することで、コミュニケーション能力をさらに向上させる。ペア・グループワークで情報や意見を共有し、プレゼンテーションや議論のために英語でトピックを調査するという課題に取り組む。また、TOEIC課題のうち特にリスニングセクションの課題に取り組む。加えて、TOEICや日常場面にて使用される語彙の知識を補強する。

科目目的

This course will help students to improve their academic speaking and listening skills. It will also give them opportunities to carry out TOEIC exercises.
英語表現演習4(S)では、アカデミックなスピーキング・リスニング能力を育成することを目的とする。また、TOEIC受験に向けた演習も行い、学生をサポートする。

到達目標

Students should be able to:
1. Understand longer academic talks on topics including science, technology and the environment.
2. Research information in English for presentations and discussions.
3. Improve their performance on the TOEIC test.
英語表現演習4(S)を通して、学生は以下のことが可能になることが期待される。
1．科学、技術、環境に関連するものも含んだ長めのアカデミックなトークを理解することができる。
2．プレゼンテーションや議論のために英語でトピックを調査することができる。
3．TOEICテストで高得点取得を目指すことができる。
